As part of the implementation of SDG No. 16, an international scientific and practical conference on the topic "The judicial system as the basis for sustainable development of Kazakhstani society" was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on January 17, 2024. This conference was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Doctor of Law, Professor M.T. Alimbekov and the 90th anniversary of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Currently, Doctor of Law, Professor Alimbekov M.T. He works at the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, directs research, conducts master's and doctoral studies.
The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of KazNU, Chairman of the KazNU Alumni Association, Doctor of Law, Professor K.Mami. He outlined the professional path and achievements in the judicial system of Doctor of Law, Professor M.T. Alimbekov.
The rector of the university, Zh.Tuimebayev. Congratulating everyone on the 90th anniversary of KazNU, he stressed that all the achievements of the university are associated with the painstaking work of teachers and professors who have worked for many years and continue to work for the benefit of our country and the university.
During the conference, Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Unzila Shapakzy, spoke. The conference participants noted the contribution of M.T. Alimbekov to the improvement of the judicial system of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Thus, M.T. Alimbekov was one of the first in Kazakhstan to formulate a proposal on the need for specialization of judges and courts, the need for reform of the judicial system, the introduction of the institute of judicial assistants, and the optimization of judicial proceedings. Under his leadership, with the support of the German foundation, the first courtroom equipped with audio-video recording was equipped. And subsequently, this practice was extended to the whole country.
The conference was attended by judges of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, leading scientists of Kazakhstan, representatives of state bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of civil society, teachers, doctoral students, undergraduates, students, media representatives.
The conference considered and discussed issues related to the role of courts in ensuring human rights, problems of practice in ensuring fundamental human rights: the right to life, freedom and security, ways to form a sustainable development of Kazakhstani society.
The organizers of this conference are Al–Farabi Kazakh National University, the Union of Judges of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
