Today, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science is officially celebrated around the world.

Established by the UN General Assembly in 2015, this significant day aims to ensure equal access of women and girls to science and encourage them to excel in science.

President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted: "One of the important signs of an advanced state is the status of women in society. Thanks to the systemic support of the state, the role of women in the economy, education, science, culture, politics and social activities is increasing every year," he noted.

In recent years, the women's community has been actively involved in research work in the field of science and technology, in the realization of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Both in science and in other sectors of the economy, new opportunities are opening up for women scientists.

Today in Kazakhstan more than 10 thousand women researchers make a significant contribution to the development of science.

65% of the teaching staff of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University are women.

Of them 347 doctors of sciences, 572 candidates, 1 academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In the formation of a new, more just society, in addition to enhancing family values, women play a special role in the education of the educated generation and the development of science.

Our experienced scientists, such as Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Higher Education Eleonora Suleimenova, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Professor Roza Kairbaeva, Doctor of Biological Sciences Tamara Shalakhmetova, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Gulnar Balakaeva, Executive Director of the Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies, Professor Nursultanu Shaimerdenova are raising followers.

Responsible for the organization of university science are members of the Board of Kaznu-Pro-Rector for Academic Affairs Lyazzat Erkinbaeva, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Activities Zhamila Aitzhanova. Faculty of Philology-Bayan Joldasbekova, Faculty of Physics and Technology-Nurzada Beisen, Faculty of Geography and Nature Management-Alia Aktymbaeva, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology-Alina Galieva, Faculty of Oriental Studies-Natalya Em, Higher School of Economics and Business-Leila Bimendieva, Faculty of International Relations-Leila Delovarova, Faculty of Medicine and Public Health-Raushan Isayeva, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology-Meruert Kurmanbaeva.

The university has created the necessary conditions for women scientists to do science, participate in international projects, conduct fundamental research and achieve high results.

Thus, the megagrant for the sum of 3.8 billion tenge, realized at the moment in the treasury, was won by Maulken Askarova, professor of the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management, Doctor of Geographical Sciences.

Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology Alina Galieva launched a research and production center of electroplating coatings Chemical Coatings Innovations (ChemColn). And a group of scientists headed by Associate Professor, Doctor of Biological Sciences Meruert Kurmanbaeva developed a method of perennial wheat production for the first time in the country.

The Brain Institute, recently established at the university, is overseen by Professor Almira Kustybayeva, head of the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine and Neuroscience, and the Research Center for Medicinal Plants by Professor Zhanar Zhenis.

Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi has always been a consistent supporter of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. KazNU always consistently supports and stimulates women scientists.
