KazNU delegation familiarized with scientific projects of SPbPU in St. Petersburg

Within the framework of the working visit to Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University the delegation of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held a meeting with Alexey Borovkov, Vice-Rector for Advanced Projects of SPbPU, Head of the Center for Computer Engineering.

During the conversation further plans for joint activities were discussed. In particular, the creation of a joint scientific center for the development of digital twins and unmanned aerial vehicles on the basis of KazNU and SPbPU.

Then the delegation of KazNU got acquainted with the developments of the Center for Computer Engineering of SPbPU in the field of digital technologies. The scientists were presented a supercomputer with two types of cooling and with a performance of 1.5 petaflops (1500 teraflops), which is used to solve scientific and industrial problems.

"SPbPU is a leader among advanced engineering schools distributed in accordance with the strategy of scientific and technological development of Russia. Scientific centers of Technopolis implement programs of Gazpromneft, Rosatom and other leading companies. For example, private funding per year of one such center is more than 600 million rubles," said Vice-Rector Alexey Borovkov.

It should be noted that the delegation headed by the Chairman of the Board - Rector of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi takes part in the week of Science. The cycle of events dedicated to the 125th anniversary of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University is attended by the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-West Federal District Alexander Gutsan, Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Leningrad Region Oleg Malashchenko, Director of the State Hermitage, honorary citizen of St. Petersburg Mikhail Piotrovsky, representatives of federal and regional authorities, federal subjects, major corporations.
