Teachers of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics spoke at the expert session “Contemporary Trends in the Development of Research Universities”

On the 21st and 22nd of February 2024, al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an expert strategic session titled "Contemporary Trends in the Development of Research Universities". The primary objective of this expert session was to formulate an educational strategy wherein scientific knowledge serves as a cornerstone, facilitating the advancement of educational processes within research institutions.

The scientific and methodological event featured a series of panel expert sessions addressing various themes:

  1. Designing educational programmes for research universities: challenges and prospects;
  2. Digital transformation in education;
  3. Innovative teaching and learning technologies;
  4. Inclusive education;
  5. Quality of teaching and learning: transforming the role of the educator

Faculty members from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics actively participated as attendees and speakers.

In Panel Session 1, "Designing Educational Programmes for Research Universities: Challenges and Prospects", the speakers included:

    • PhD, Senior Lecturer Mariya Suvorova, presenting "A Retrospective Analysis of Educational Programmes: A Case Study in Master's Education";
    • Cand. Sc. (Biology), Senior Lecturer Saniya Daulatbayeva, with "The Application of Statistics and Data Analysis as a Vital Professional Competency".

In Panel Session 3, "Innovative Teaching and Learning Technologies", the speakers were:

    • D.Sc. (Biology), Professor Zaure Aytasheva, discussing "Programs of final examinations and student project plans drafted by using AI and referencing generators".
    • Cand.Sc. (Biology), Acting Associate Professor Shynar Yrgynbayeva, on "The Efficacy of Using WORDWALL.NET Resources in Teaching Biology".
    • PhD, Senior Lecturer Aizhan Zhussupova, with "Innovative Teaching Methods in the STEM Field in the Context of Sustainable Development Goals".

In Panel Session 5, "Quality of Teaching and Learning: Transforming the Role of the Educator", the speakers included:

    • PhD, Acting Associate Professor Anna Lovinskaya, presenting " Integration of MOOCs into the educational process: a teacher's view".
    • PhD, Senior Lecturer Aizhan Zhussupova, with a masterclass on "Interdisciplinary Alliance: The Educator in the Information Space".
    • Cand.Sc. (Biology), Associate Professor Zhanar Chunetova, discussing "Trends in Enhancing Teacher Professionalism in the Current Educational Space".
