The ceremony of laying flowers to the monument of Omirbek Zholdasbekov was held in KazNU

Today is the 93rd anniversary of the birth of Omirbek Zholdasbekov, a statesman and public figure, doctor of technical sciences, professor, former rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, academician.

In honor of this significant date, teachers and staff of the university, contemporaries, students, descendants of Omirbek Aryslanovich laid flowers at the monument of the state and public figure.
The gathered honored the memory of the figure, who made a great contribution to the development of the university, as well as education and science of the country.

Omirbek Zholdasbekov graduated with honors from Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1954. He graduated with honors from Lomonosov Moscow State University. He then worked as a teacher, senior teacher, and dean of the Mechanical Faculty of the Kazakh Technological Institute. In 1961, he completed postgraduate studies at the Moscow Textile Institute and worked as a teacher at this institution. From 1962 to 1964 he worked as an associate professor, head of the department of the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute, then until 1970 as vice-rector for academic work. In 1970-86 he was rector of Kazakh State University. He initiated the construction of the KazSU campus and opened many new faculties and departments. Scientific discoveries and researches of Omirbek Aryslanovich were widely recognized not only in Kazakhstan, but also in the world scientific environment.
At the event, which is traditionally held in the higher education institution, a member of the Board - Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of KazNU Lyazzat Erkinbaeva made a speech.

"Omirbek Aryslanuly headed KazSU for 16 years and made a significant contribution to the development of national science and education. He raised many students and wrote more than 400 scientific papers. The scientific school of this man is still working fruitfully today. And his life path, merits are always an example for today's generation", - said the Vice-Rector.
