Educational lesson on the topic: Gender quality

On March 12, 2024, the lecturer of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature, Maulenova Banu Samatovna, held an open lesson with  the 1st year students of the Faculty of Geography within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals: Gender Equality.

At the beginning of the open lesson, teacher B.S. Maulenova spoke about the importance of implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) developed in 2015 by the UN General Assembly, each of which is aimed at solving a specific global problem, and their interrelationships. The importance of the condition for achieving all UN goals, especially Goal 5 - Gender Equality, was noted.

Together with the students, they discussed the report "Global Gender Gap 2022" of the World Economic Forum, where Kazakhstan improved its indicators on gender inequality and rose in the global ranking from 80 to 65th place.  The students Madiev Zulkayyr, Sattieva Sabina and Kyrgyzbai Ayzere prepared a report on the topic “Problems of gender inequality in Kazakhstan". We discussed issues such as the difficulty of receiving  an education, the wage gap, and domestic violence. The students were divided into two groups and had a debate on the topic “Second shift: unpaid housework.”  The students Akhmetzhanov Ramil and Azamatov Shahzod prepared a crossword puzzle on the topic, where students learned new terms like “sticky floor”, “glass ceiling”, etc. The lesson was very informative.
