NWPU branch in KazNU gives an opportunity to get the best technical education

The branch of Northwest Polytechnic University of China in Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has been operating since October 2023.

The opening of a branch of the leading higher education institution of the Celestial Empire on the basis of KazNU was realized as a result of the official visit of the Head of State Kasym-Jomart Tokayev to the People's Republic of China in 2023.
This international initiative provides an opportunity to train technical specialists, exchange students and teachers, opening of common laboratories, implementation of joint educational programs.
Currently, the branch has master's students studying in such educational programs as materials science and engineering, electronics and communication technologies, computer science and technologies.
"After the opening of the branch and admission of master's students, the work on the educational process began. In general, according to the concluded agreement, master's students in the first year will study in KazNU, and in the second year - to do research work in China in NWPU. Within the framework of double diploma program master students receive diplomas of Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi and North-West Polytechnic University. In general, the diplomas of KazNU and NWPU meet international standards. Therefore, it is safe to say that graduates of the branch can work in any country of the world and be in demand," said Nurzada Beisen, dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology at KazNU.
In addition to professors of KazNU, the branch will be taught by teachers of Northwestern Polytechnic University. In the near future 8 more teachers will come from China. Currently, the young people are learning Chinese language.

It is worth noting that Northwestern Polytechnic University is one of the leading universities in China in training technical specialists. The university is located in the city of Xi'an. There are about 40 thousand students studying here. The educational institution is among the best universities in the world rankings. The branch opened in KazNU is the first foreign branch of the Northwestern Polytechnic University. Nobel Prize winners in physics Li Zhengdao and in chemistry Harold Kroto Walter graduated from the famous educational institution.
