Associate professor of Kyoto University of Foreign Languages Misochko G.O. read a lecture for teachers of the Far Eastern Department

On 03/26/2024 at 15:00, Associate professor of Kyoto University of Foreign Languages Grigoriy Olegovich Misochko gave a lecture for teachers of the Far East Department on the topic: "Using extensive reading in teaching foreign languages: the experience of Kyoto University of Foreign Languages". Grigory Olegovich Misochko is an associate professor of foreign languages at Kyoto University, and a member of the Association of Japanese Language Teachers of Russia and the CIS, the Japanese Association for Comparative Pedagogy (JCES), the Japanese Association for Educational Research (JERA), the Japanese Association for the Study of Russian Language Teaching Problems (JASRLE) ), the Japanese research team on education in Russia and the Soviet Union (NIKORS). During the lecture, the lecturer spoke in detail about a relatively new method of learning: extensive reading, which is used in the teaching of English, French and Japanese languages at Kyoto University.

    During the lecture, such aspects as the specifics of this method of learning, its main advantages, as well as the difficulties that arise when using extensive reading when teaching foreign languages were also considered. After the lecture, the teachers of the department have the opportunity to ask questions of their interest on this topic.

    After the lecture, the teacher of the Kazakh-Japanese Center for the Development of Human Resources in Almaty Skatov Alisher Mermukhametovich made a report on the topic: "Development of students' reading skills in Japanese language" and senior teacher of the Far East Department Nurelova Asiya Mukhametkhanovna on the topic: "Innovative technologies in teaching reading in a foreign language".

     The event was held at a high organizational level. The teachers of the department noted that this meeting became a useful exchange of experience and knowledge, as well as the beginning of long-term cooperation with foreign colleagues with the aim of introducing and developing new methods of education at Al-Farabi University  in the future.
