International Olympiad named after Professor Ospanov H.K. "Physchemist - 2024"

Within the framework of SDG 4, the main goals and objectives of which are: 1) stimulating the educational, cognitive and educational research activities of students; 2) revealing the professional and personal potential of students, their self-awareness, creative abilities, creating conditions for self-realization and self-affirmation; 3) fostering an active citizenship of students; 4) selection and support of the most talented and gifted students. In this regard, at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry organized the international Olympiad "Physchemist- 2024" named after Professor Ospanov Habibulla Kusainovich. The participants of this Olympiad were students of 3-4 courses of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Karaganda University named after academician E.A.Buketov, North Kazakhstan University named after Manash Kozybayev, as well as Kyrgyz State University named after Ishenala Arabaev (KSU, Bishkek).

The participants of the Olympiad were students who successfully passed the qualifying round within the walls of their universities.  The Olympiad was held in an online format and consisted of two rounds. At the first stage, the participants were tested according to the sections of the course "Physical Chemistry": chemical thermodynamics and chemical kinetics. The testing was conducted on the educational platform "Kahoot". The Olympiad has become a fantastic opportunity for young, ambitious students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in the field of physical chemistry. Students participated in various challenging tasks and competitions, testing their abilities and experience against their peers.

According to the results of the jury's work, the winners were identified, so the first degree diploma was awarded to student Ergeshov Maksat (KazNU); the second degree diploma – Ilyas Sultan (KazNU), Mukanov Askar (KazNU), Fisher Tatiana (KarU); the third degree diploma – Polyakova Victoria (KarU), Bakhytzhanova Zhansaya (KarU), Bauyrzhanuly Aziz (KazNU). The following students were also awarded incentive prizes for good results: Duishenaly kyzy Ayperi (KSU, Bishkek), Nurmakhanbet Azat (KazNU), Zhanbyrbaeva Dariga (KarU, Karaganda), Kartasheva Erica (NKU, Petropavlovsk), Jabina Alina (NKU).

The International subject Olympiad "Fizkhimik-2024" became an incredible celebration and a worthy tribute to the remarkable legacy of Professor Ospanov H.K., under whose name this Olympiad was held. One can only imagine many future scientists who will be inspired by his pioneering work and will strive to continue his excellent legacy.
