Scientific seminar on "Discrimination against Women and Girls" within the framework of the UN SDGs (5.1 Eliminate all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere).

      On April 11, 2024, at the Department of Civil Law and Civil Procedure, Labor Law, a scientific seminar was held on the topic: "Discrimination against women and girls" in the framework of the implementation of the UN SDGs (5.1. Eliminate all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere). The speaker was Diana Baimukhanova, a 1st year Master's student. Head of the scientific seminar and discussion, Head of the Department of Civil Law and Civil Process, Labor Law, Doctor of Law, Professor Suleimenova S.ZH. headed the scientific seminar and discussion.

    The review of the scientific seminar devoted to the problem of elimination of all forms of discrimination against women and girls was presented. During the scientific seminar the interconnections of the UN SDGs with modern realities of the society were highlighted.

     Focused on key issues in the context of their historical relevance and practical necessity. Analyzed the history of the struggle for women's and girls' rights, identifying significant achievements and obstacles on this path to equality.Participants discussed existing forms of discrimination in different areas of women's and girls' lives, such as access to education, health care and jobs. Explored the manifest causes of discrimination, including the cultural, social and economic factors that sustain it. Discussed the negative effects of discrimination on women, girls and society as a whole, including limitations on development potential and human rights violations. Participants presented various strategies and measures to combat discrimination, including legislative and educational initiatives, as well as the role of civil society.

    The research seminar was an important step towards discussing and addressing discrimination against women and girls. It is hoped that the ideas and recommendations discussed will help to move towards the realization of the goal of eliminating all forms of discrimination everywhere and achieving full gender equality.
