Directions of geology development were discussed in KazNU
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an international round table "Geological science as a catalyst for the development of basic industries of Kazakhstan's economy", dedicated to the Day of Science Workers and the 125th anniversary of Academician K.I. Satpayev.
The event was organized by the Department of Cartography and Geoinformatics of the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management.
The event brought together prominent scientists and professors from K.I.Satpayev Institute of Geological Sciences, Satbayev University, Institute of Geography and Water Security, D.Serikbayev VKSTU, George Washington University (USA), State University of New York at Binghamton (USA), UN Center for Geographic Information Systems (USA) and a number of Russian universities.
Margulan Ibraimov, Acting Director of the Department of Science and Innovation Activity, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. Emphasizing the invaluable contribution of Academician Kanysh Satpayev to the development of science of the country, he reminded that due to the organizational skills of K.I.Satpayev the Academy of Sciences was established, new academic institutes were opened on its basis, all areas of geological science began to actively develop. This gave a serious impetus to the development of basic industries of the country, proving their efficiency. Kanysh Imantayevich promoted the formation of young scientists in various areas of science, which allowed modern Kazakhstan to take its place in the world scientific community.
"It is noteworthy that the international round table is held on the basis of the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management, which in 1948 was represented by two departments - geological and geographical. Later the faculty was renamed into the geographical faculty. At the present stage the faculty, reviving traditions, opens a new educational program "Geology and Geomorphology", - noted Margulan Kasenovich. - As Mr. Kanysh Imantayevich noted, there are deposits in Kazakhstan waiting to be discovered. This means that Kazakhstani science and industrial sector will have new directions of development".
At the meeting of the round table also spoke: Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management Aliya Aktymbaeva, chief scientific officer of the Institute of Geological Sciences named after K.I.Satpayev Akylbek Zhunusov, chief scientific officer of the Institute of Problems of Integrated Subsoil Development of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Candidate of Technical Sciences Natalia Militenko, Head of the Department of Hydrogeology, Engineering and Oil and Gas Geology Satbayev University Yergali Auelhan and others.
