Abdibekov U. born on March 13, 1960 in the village of Tasty, South Kazakhstan region.
In 1967-1975 received secondary education at a secondary school in the village of Kornilovka, South Kazakhstan region, and at a physics and mathematics school in Almaty, from which he graduated in 1977.
In 1982, he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics of Kazakh State University named after S.M.Kirov with a degree in Mechanics.
From 1982 to 1990, he worked at the Kazakh Research Institute of Energy as an engineer and junior researcher.
In 1990, he defended his candidate's dissertation and joined the Institute of Geography of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR as a senior researcher and then head of the mathematical modeling laboratory.
In 1995, he was invited to work at the Institute of Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan as a leading researcher in the laboratory of applied hydrodynamics.
Since March 2002, he worked as acting head of the Department of Computer and Computational Technologies of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of KazNU named al-Farabi.
Since 2002, he has been the chief researcher at the Research Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of al-Farabi KazNU.
Managed the following scientific projects and programs:
- 2000-2002 – Russian-Kazakh international program “Environmental problems of the Baikonur Cosmodrome”, financed by Rosavianos;
- 2002-2005 – ISTC project on the environmental program of the Aral Sea;
- 2003-2005 – fundamental research and development project “Development of the large eddy method for hydrodynamic problems using parallel computing technologies and their applications to environmental problems”;
- 2002-2006 – a project of the Ministry of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan to develop computer technologies and software products to solve problems of environmental safety of the oil industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
- 2005-2008 – development of mathematical models and numerical methods for calculating turbulent flows based on the large eddy method (LES).
He has one monograph and more than 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals, scientific publications in the CIS and abroad, has trained two candidates of science and currently supervises the scientific work of four graduate students and two PhD students.
He defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic “Numerical modeling of turbulent flows.”
Since May 2012, he worked as vice-rector for academic affairs at al-Farabi KazNU. He was the president (rector) of the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after H.A.Yasawi.
Scientific interests:
- development and application of information and computer technologies to solve practical problems of science and technology;
- hydrodynamic processes;
- turbulent transport of impurities in a stratified medium;
- transport of impurities over a temperature-inhomogeneous surface;
- influence of temperature and concentration on the pulsation structure of turbulent flow;
- modeling of the propagation of impurities in the wake of the launch vehicle in the free atmosphere;
- modeling of pollutant propagation in the free atmosphere;
- mathematical modeling of turbulent MHD flow;
- application of mathematical modeling methods to solve environmental problems;
- computational aspects of environmental problems in gas and oil fields;
- modeling of pollution of the surface layer of the atmosphere;
- spectral method based on Chebyshev polynomials for modeling turbulence;
- semi-empirical turbulence models for stratified media;
- numerical modeling of spatial flow in cylindrical regions;
- modeling of turbulence degeneration using the spectral method using Chebyshev polynomials.
The results of scientific research were reported at international conferences in the USA, South Korea, Russia, at republican conferences and seminars.
