The leading professor Akkari A. from the University of Geneva held an international seminar at the al-Farabi Kazakh National University

On 11-13.04.2024, Professor Abdeljalil Akkari together with the head of the Chair of Diplomatic Translation,  Cand.of Philological Sciences, Professor A. S. Seidikenova, held an international seminar on "Academic publications in the humanities and social sciences" at the Faculty of International Relations of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The purpose of the seminar was to teach researchers to understand the review process and increase the chances of their scientific papers being accepted for publication. The seminar provided advice on writing and reviewing scientific articles and reviewing them.

The seminar included the following topics according to the program:

● Importance of publications for researchers

● Understanding the review process to increase the chances of acceptance of scientific work

● Presentation of articles by the participants of the seminar

● Outline of a scientific article

● Information about Scopus database logs requirements

● Players and stages of the review process

● How to plan and prepare a publication (stages and strategies)

● Methodology and data quality

● Presentation of articles by the participants of the seminar (plan and structure)

● Selecting the right scientific journals

● Work and feedback on reviewers' comments.

During the seminar, the professor explained the review process, showed ways to expand opportunities for accepting scientific papers and articles for publication, and shared the unique experience necessary for a successful scientific career.

Professor Akkari A. expressed his opinion  about importance of  publishing articles in the journals of the Scopus and peer-review database, also advised how to choose the right topic, write an abstract so that the article would be attractive to the reviewer, and gave each participant recommendations on the research topic.

In addition, young scientists, under the guidance of mentors, continued their journey into the world of science, analyzing their articles and having the opportunity to create and improve their structure.

The main feature of the seminar was that each participant get opportunity to discuss their topic and received specific advice from the professor. The participants met with the professor and received answers to their questions. For example, on the second day of the seminar, Prof. Akkari A. instructed each participant to make up the structure of their proposed article. The seminar participants took turns presenting their draft articles in online and offline format and received recommendations from the professor. In addition, the necessary practical advice was given to understand the review process and increase the chances of acceptance of scientific papers. Each participant was able to formulate a topic, abstract and structure of the article on their topic.

 It was noted that currently researchers are aware of the need for publications as the main driving force in improving their rating and realizing their scientific potential.

Even during the breaks, mutual discussion continued in a free format. Professor Akari A. once again demonstrated his openness to any topic and dialogue, showing an individual approach to each person, which indicates professional skill in working with an international audience. In oredert to hear  opinions of the seminar participants, he asked questions and engaged them in a free discussion. The professor, systematically expressing his thoughts, sincerely imbued with the ideas of the seminar participants and inspired them.

Those who took part in the seminar, shared their thoughts, discussed, those who could not participate didn’t have such opportunity. Because it's good luck to listen to a person who is an idea generator and involuntarily charms everyone with his knowledge.

The seminar participants noted the usefulness and value of the seminar, expressing their admiration.
