Issues of national identity were discussed in KazNU

The Al-Farabi Kazakh National University  hosted an international scientific-practical conference "National identity in modern Kazakhstan: historical roots and modern trends", dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of the scientist-historian, Professor Toregali Karatayev.

The event was organized by the Faculty of Pre-University Education.

The conference was attended by scientists, teachers and specialists in the field of humanities of domestic universities, as well as foreign scientists from far and near abroad.

Dean of the pre-university faculty Spatai Sartaev addressed the participants and guests of the event, who noted that the 90th anniversary of the historian, Professor Toregali Karataev, who worked at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University for a long time, coincided with the 90th anniversary of the university.

Toregali Karataev began his career at the Faculty of History, Archaeology and Ethnology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, from 2000 at the Preparatory Department of the Faculty of Pre-University Education of our university taught the history of Kazakhstan until 2019. Working within the walls of the faculty T. Karataev published more than 200 articles, 20 textbooks. Toregali Karataev - candidate of historical sciences, professor, honorary citizen of the district Aiteke bi, labor veteran, awarded the sign "Excellent worker of higher education" of the USSR, "Honorary worker of education of the Republic of Kazakhstan", as well as several special medals, badges. "The cause of the scientist and teacher is continued by his worthy students, who work on the development of national identity, national spirit," said Dean Spatai Sartaev.

During the plenary session were heard the speeches of Azhar Akhmetzhanova, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Sciences and International Languages of International Engineering and Technology University, director of the branch of the National University named after J.Balasagun Institute of History and Ethnology named after Sh.Ualikhanov. Sh. Ualikhanov, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Zhumagul Baidildeev, Associate Professor, Candidate of Historical Sciences of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines of Almaty Technological University Fakiya Shamshidenova and others.

Scientists, discussing the research of national identity in modern Kazakhstan, made a special emphasis on the historical roots and modern trends of the nation.

The work of the conference continued with panel sessions, at the end of which the relevant results were summarized.
