Round table discussion "Reducing gender inequality"

On April 23, 2024, оn the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and within the framework of  Sustainable Development Goal 5: "Gender Equality"  the lecturers  of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature and the  1st year students of  "6B03101 – Sociology" major  of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science held a round table discussion  on the topic: "Reducing gender inequality".

During this discussion, the following topics were touched upon: the concept of gender equality, its indicators to date, various ways to solve this problem and the practice of other countries. The participants of the event worked together as a team and discussed how to reduce the inequality between women and men's opportunities and expand the same opportunities, which plays a key role in accelerating economic growth and social development.  To  achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, the problems associated with gender inequality, violations of cultural norms and rights, as well as the influence of stereotypes that hinder progress towards the goals set are highlighted.

This topic is relevant for the present time, as it raises issues of gender inequality. Regardless of gender, nation and language, everyone can face a such situation. Considering the issue of women, despite the fact that they significant part of society, they are still limited in their opportunities for full social and economic progress.
