I am thrilled to share with you all the incredible experience I had participating in the Global Solution Summit online. As the Chief Specialist of the Institute of Advanced Studies and Additional Education at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, I had the honor of attending the Solution Forum titled "Building Sustainable Prosperity: Bridging the Gap Between Health and Wealth."
Hosted on May 7, 2024, this session was curated in collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and took place in Berlin.
The discussion centered around the urgent need to view health as a global public good and to approach it with that lens, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the world generating enough wealth to provide basic universal health care and combat climate change, economic development does not benefit everyone equally, especially in the realm of global health. The pandemic itself wiped out two decades of progress in just 20 weeks, leaving many national health systems struggling, particularly in low-income countries.
During the session, esteemed panelists, including Bill Gates, highlighted concrete examples of the impact and Return on Investment (ROI) of evidence-based investments, showcasing how human capital investments can ensure economic development leads to resilient health systems. We discussed the systemic nexus of public health, economic development, and access to both, exploring major obstacles across countries and proposing solutions to facilitate global cooperation.

Since 2017, the Global Solutions Summit has provided an intense, two-day forum for the world’s leading minds to propose expert-based policy recommendations for the G20, G7 and beyond. Distinguished experts from think tanks, research organizations, governance, business, and civil society come together each year in the middle of every G20 Presidency to work on concrete policy solutions.
The next Global Solutions Summit will be held on May 5-6, 2025, in Berlin. The topics covered at #GSS2024 are explored across three tracks. This year, the #GSS2024 offers a reenergized focus on finding solutions to shared problems, locating key hurdles and spotlighting programs, ideas and initiatives that offer a way forward. With the theme “Moving Beyond the Crisis: Mobilizing Change for Global Prosperity,” they want to better understand what is holding us back, and how we can ramp up progress. Participating in this forum was truly enlightening and inspiring. It reinforced the importance of collaboration between public and private organizations to counter setbacks and advance health as a global public good.
I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of such an impactful discussion and look forward to continuing the conversation and implementing positive change within our institution and beyond.
