Discussed the results of the subject rating QS - 2024

Regional Director of the International rating agency QS Sergey Khristolyubov gave a leadership lecture "Results of KazNU in subject ratings of the best universities in the world in 2024 - QS WUR by Subject 2024" in Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev in his welcoming speech noted the importance of international ratings, which are an important tool for assessing the quality of educational services at the international, regional and local levels.

KazNU for many years participates in the ratings of authoritative international agencies QS, Times Higher Education and annually dynamically promotes its positions in them. On April 10, 2024 the next issue of subject ratings was released, which demonstrated the strengths and weaknesses in each subject area, as well as possible prospects for improving positions. As a research university, KazNU should demonstrate research potential in such important indicators in international rankings as "Number of citations per faculty member", "International Research Network", "Sustainable Development Goals".

"Our university as a flagship of higher education of the country should strive to score the highest number of points and occupy high places in TOP-200 and TOP-100 subject rankings, - emphasized the head of the university. - I am sure that the lecture of the regional director of the International rating agency QS Sergey Khristolyubov will serve as an important tool of efficiency and will help to create an effective strategy for further work on the promotion of subjects of KazNU in world rankings". 

At the beginning of the speech Sergey Vladimirovich noted the tremendous work of Al-Farabi KazNU, which currently occupies the first line among Kazakh universities in the ranking of universities in the world in the field of achieving sustainable development goals. Then the speaker dwelt in detail on the subject ranking, the results of which were published on April 10 this year, reminded the main indicators on the basis of which the QS WUR by Subject rating is compiled and, in general, explained the methodology of compiling subject rankings.

"KazNU received the highest values of position in subject ratings for all these years - 21 positions. This is the highest number among universities in the Central Asian region, - emphasized Sergey Khristolyubov. - It is all the more valuable that it is much more difficult to get in subject ratings than in the rating of the best universities of the world".

After the informative lecture, Mr. Sergey Khristolyubov, Regional Director of QS International Rating Agency, answered the questions of the listeners and gave recommendations on further work of the University in order to strengthen its positions in the international rating QS WUR by Subject.
