Discussed topical issues of historical science

Al-Farabi KazNU hosted the international scientific-practical conference "Shalekenov Readings - II" on the theme "Actual problems of historical science in the context of archeology, ethnology and museology", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Faculty of History Uahit Shalekenov.

As part of the events dedicated to the anniversary of the outstanding scientist, a memorial plaque was unveiled on the wall of the house where he lived. An ethnographic museum named after U.H. Shalekenov was established at the Faculty of History of KazNU.

Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev spoke at the opening ceremony of the museum and highly appreciated the contribution of Prof. Uahit Shalekenov to the development of science and the leading university of the country.

"Uahit Khamzauly devoted his whole life to KazNU.  For many years he worked as dean of the Faculty of History, worked as head of the department, the veteran scientist left his mark in its history," the rector said.

Uahit Shalekenov, being an archaeologist, ethnologist and expert of national history, worked intensively in all three fields of historical science.  His works on Turkic civilization and Aryans, voluminous and substantial scientific research of medieval cities of Aktobe, Balasagun are included in the national historical science. Today they are in demand not only by Kazakhstani, but also by foreign scientists. 

At the plenary session also spoke: state and public figure, advisor to the General Director of the Kazakh Institute of Oil and Gas, scientific director of the Research Center for Applied Economics AERC Zhaksylyk Kulekeev, chairman of the Council of Veterans of KazNU, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, Academician Zulkhair Mansurov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Director of the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Sh.Ualikhanov Ziyabek Kabuldinov and others. The work of the conference continued in the framework of sectional sessions, where were considered the actual topics: "Scientific achievements and actual problems of archeology of Kazakhstan at the present stage", "Directions and prospects of development of ethnology of Kazakhstan", "Actual problems of national history", "The Great Silk Road and ethno-cultural processes of the peoples of Eurasia", "Modern problems of innovative development of museum business in Kazakhstan".            

The conference was attended by national historians, ethnologists, archaeologists, museologists, local historians, representatives of state and public organizations, experts, media representatives.
