Rector met with foreign language specialists

Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebaev met with foreign language specialists.

 

Among the honored guests were Professor Olmez Mehmet of Turkey, PhD, Professor Yana Volkova of Russia, PhD in Philology, Professor Ludmila Karavanova and other scholars.

At the meeting the parties discussed topical issues of Turkology, exchanged views on the ongoing work on Persian, Arabic and Turkic languages.

Rector of the university Zhanseit Tuimebaev informed the members of the delegation that in the near future a branch of KazNU will be opened in Omsk, Russia.

“For the first time, a branch of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is being opened in Russia. This is a very important event for the two states. The branch, which is opening on the basis of Omsk State University named after F.M. Dostoevsky will have an educational program for training foreign language specialists. Our university has a research institute of Abai and the Institute of Altai Studies and Turkology. The university also has a fund of rare books and manuscripts. Scientists conduct extensive research of rare manuscripts and ancient books there,” the rector said.

In turn, Professor Yana Volkova expressed her gratitude to the management and staff of KazNU for hospitality and attention.

“This is my first visit to KazNU. I am impressed. We will make every effort to further expand cooperation with Al-Farabi KazNU, which jointly develops education and science,” said Yana Volkova.

At the end of the meeting, the participants agreed to organize large-scale conferences and meetings in the field of language development and to jointly prepare scientific articles.
