KazNU scholars collaborate with UN agencies to promote the 17 Sustainable Development Goals

Dean of the Faculty of International Relations Leila Delovarova parcipated the Expert Group Meeting and Capacity-building Workshop: “Strengthening the evidence base on migration in North and Central Asia: data, gender impacts, and remittances”.

The meeting was organized by the UN Economic and Social Committee, Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). The event was attended by representatives of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The meeting brought together government officials, national coordinators appointed by the governments of North and Central Asia, as well as experts from academia, civil society and international organizations.

The purpose of the event was to discuss the implementation of sustainable development goals in the context of international migration, the Global compact on migration (GCM); Provide capacity building for international migration data collection and discussion and feedback on research work on migration in North Central Asia.

The event took place on June 4-5 in the “UN Plaza” building in Almaty.
