Consonance of cultures in the works of Abay and Pushkin

Al-Farabi KazNU hosted an international round table "Pushkin and Abay - consonance of cultures" dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the university.

 

On the birthday of Alexander Pushkin, the Department of Russian Language and World Literature and the Center of Russian Language and Culture of the Faculty of Philology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology of Abai KazNPU organized an event, filling it with a deep sense of analysis and discussion of cultural and literary ties between Russia and Kazakhstan through the work of two outstanding poets - Pushkin and Abai.

The event began with the performance of the famous song to the words of Abai "Kөzimnіmnіnң karasy". Moderator of the round table - head of the Center for Russian Language and Culture Saule Begalieva opened the meeting, emphasizing the symbolic meaning of the title "Pushkin and Abai - the consonance of cultures.
Bayan Joldasbekova, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Philology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University congratulated the participants of the event. She spoke about the achievements of Kazakhstan Pushkiniana, which has taken a firm place in the history of world philological science. "The great humanist and enlightener Abay was the first to turn his gaze to Pushkin's works. Shakarim translated his prose works in poetic language. Translations of Pushkin's works into Kazakh by Ilyas Zhansugurov, Mirzhakip Dulatov, Zhusupbek Aimauytov, Akhmet Baitursynov are known," Bayan Umirbekovna emphasized in her speech.

The immortal lines of Alexander Pushkin's poem "I Remember a Wonderful Moment" were recited in three languages - Russian, Kazakh and Chinese.

The event was also addressed by: vice-consul, head of the Russian House of Almaty Maria Simakova, professor of the Moscow State Pedagogical University Elizaveta Khamraeva (Russia), professor of the Hanoi University of Business and Technology Tran Dinh Lam (Vietnam), associate professor of the Odintsovo branch of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Kazachkova, head of the Center of Kazakh language, history and culture named after Abai Kunanbayev Fatima Dursunova (Baku State University, Azerbaijan), professor of the Center of the Kazakh language, history and culture named after Abai Kunanbayev Fatima Dursunova (Baku State University, Azerbaijan), professor of the Center of the Kazakh language, history and culture named after Abai Kunanbayev (Baku State University, Azerbaijan).

Well-known scientists, philologists, Pushkinists in the framework of the round table shared knowledge and research on the influence of Pushkin and Abay on world literature and culture, the results of comparison of their poetic heritage and philosophical views, search and realization of new ways of intercultural cooperation and dialog. The participants touched upon the urgent topic of promotion and popularization of Pushkin's and Abay's works among the student youth and wide audience with the use of modern methods, Internet and social networks. 

The event was attended by representatives of universities from Kazakhstan, Russia, Vietnam, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, secondary educational institutions, lyceum schools.
The International Round Table contributed to the sustainable strengthening of cultural exchange and mutual respect, as well as support for research initiatives in the field of comparative literature and cultural studies.
