Military journalists are trained at Аl-Farabi Kazakh National University
The dual-degree program "Military Journalism" has been developed in collaboration with al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the military institute of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Military journalists will be trained at al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The bachelor's program in "Military Journalism" has been developed jointly with the Military Institute of Radio Electronics and Communications of the Ministry of Defense.
The aim of the program is to prepare professionally competent specialists who acquire academic knowledge in the field of homeland defense, as well as the basics of military journalism, reporting from conflict zones, media technologies in conflict management, and preparation of analytical materials in the event of a terrorist threat.
A military journalist is a correspondent who accompanies the army, aviation, and navy during military operations and covers war events in the press. The specialist conducts reports from hot spots, carries out editorial assignments related to describing the activities of the security forces. This is a creative activity that requires professional knowledge.
The working group includes the following members From the Military Institute of Radio Electronics and Communications: Major Mukhit Turumbetov Bauyrzhanovich, Head of the Department of Academic Mobility, Associate Professor, Major Zhanarbek Kerimkulov Makhambetovich, Methodologist.
From al-Farabi Kazakh National University: Gulmira Suleimenova Sultanovna, Chief Specialist of the Project Office of Educational Programs, Professor Gulmira Sultanbayeva Serikbayevna, Head of the Department of Print and Electronic Media, Chingiz Abirov, lecturer at the department and graduate of three Erasmus programs.
The Military Institute of Radio Electronics and Communications is also located in Almaty. It was established in 2001. It is the only higher military engineering educational institution in Central Asia that trains specialists in communication and automated control system.
