In KazNU discussed the study of medieval written monuments

Al-Farabi KazNU is hosting an international scientific-practical conference "Research of medieval cultural heritage" dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the university and the 60th anniversary of the famous orientalist scholar Akbota Akhmetbekova.

The event was attended by representatives of the university administration, faculty, scientists, public figures and students of the university. 

The meeting was opened by Sabit Suatai, member of the Board, Vice-Rector for Social Development. He congratulated the orientalist scholar, Arabist, candidate of philological sciences, associate professor Akbota Karibaevna Akhmetbekova on her jubilee and noted her main merits and achievements.

Talented scientist and honorable teacher devoted herself to science and education of new generation of students. The main scientific interests of Akbota Akhmetbekova are closely connected with the works of K.A.Yasawi, Sufi direction in Kazakh literature, folklore, medieval literary monuments. Among scientific publications the monographs "Khoja Akhmet Yasawi" (1998), "Sufi poetry in Kazakh literature" (2011) take a special place, which can be evaluated as significant works.

Akbota Karibayevna actively participates in the development of curricula and textbooks for schoolchildren and students, in the organization and conduct of various educational and cultural events aimed at promoting the Kazakh language and culture among young people.

"Akbota Akhmetbekova's creative activity is a vivid example of commitment to science and education. Thanks to her contribution to the development of philology, teaching and public activity, she has become one of the key figures in the academic community of Kazakhstan," the Vice-Rector emphasized. - I am confident that with her work she will continue to inspire students and colleagues and make a significant contribution to the development of Kazakhstani science and culture".

The event was also addressed by: Dr. Bayan Zhubatova, professor of the Middle East and South Asia Department, doctor of philological sciences, Dr. Muhammad al-Shahhat Abdulhamid Muhammad al-Jindi, rector of the Egyptian University of Islamic Culture Nur-Mubarak, an Arabist scholar, veteran of the department Gulzhan Ramazanova, Professor of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Doctor of Philological Sciences Gulnar Nadirova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Arab Republic of Egypt Lama Sharif Kairat Kairbekuly and others.

Then the participants discussed the issues of studying medieval written monuments as a literary heritage, theological and philosophical problems in medieval written monuments, and others. The conference materials will be published after the conference in the form of a collective monograph.
