Professor of PennState University in KazNU

On June 6, a meeting was held within the walls of KazNU with Professor of the University of Penstate Ermek Nurkhaydarov. Shakir Aidos spoke at the meeting, where he introduced to the guest our faculty. Afterwards, those gathered asked the professor questions they were interested in, regarding the master’s degree and, in general, about studying in the USA. The meeting was attended by the management of the department, teaching staff, and interested students.

 

Ermek Nurkhaydarov – Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Penstate University (Mont Alto Campus).

 

Dr. Ermek S. Nurkhaidarov is an assistant professor of mathematics at Penn State University at Monto. Originally from Kazakhstan, he received his bachelor's degree in 1992 from Karaganda State University, where he worked as a teacher until 1997. He joined Penn State in 2008 after receiving a doctorate in mathematics from the University of Connecticut and several years at Western Montana University. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in algebra, topology, and mathematical logic. In 2012-2013, Dr. Nurkhaidarov worked at Nazarbayev University in the Department of Mathematics at the SST School, where in the spring he served as acting head of the department. His research interests lie in the field of Mathematical Logic and Model Theory, in particular Model Arithmetic.Interests in collaboration: Dr. Nurkhaidarov is interested in joint research in the field of Mathematical Logic, such as Model Theory and Model Arithmetic. He is interested in working with students pursuing master's or doctoral degrees in mathematics. Other possibilities include the coordination of mathematics courses between Kazakhstan schools and the corresponding PSU courses.
