"SILVER UNIVERSITY" PROGRAMME. DEPARTMENT OF CARTOGRAPHY AND GEOINFORMATICS

5 july, 2024

Associate Professor A. Ulman and Head of the Department, PhD, Associate Professor A. Assylbekova conducted familiarisation work with the laboratories of digital cartography and applied geodesy. This event received high feedback from the audience, with hotly discussed topics.

During the meeting there were a large number of questions about the features and advantages of modern geodetic instruments. There was also a lot of interest in how digital maps are created. The listeners shared their thoughts, exchanged opinions, and interesting and informative discussions were organised. As a result, the meeting was held at a very high level.

At this meeting, special attention was paid to the issue of improving infrastructure for the elderly and adopting technology tailored to their needs as one of the Sustainable Development Goals. Modern surveying devices and digital mapping techniques help to improve the quality of life of older persons, ensure their safety and increase their access to public services. Such activities are important steps to support the active and fulfilling existence of older persons in society.
