Links with Bar-Ilan University will be expanded

The bilateral agreement on partnership between the universities was signed during a meeting between the Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev and the General Director of Bar-Ilan University Zohar Inon.

In his welcoming speech the head of KazNU informed the guest of honour about the achievements of the research university and cooperation with universities in Israel: Holon Institute of Technology and the University of Haifa in the following directions: exchange of students and faculty, implementation of joint research projects, inviting professors, supervising PhD doctoral students. During the recent meeting of deans of faculties of KazNU (chemistry and chemical technology, physics-technical and mechanical-mathematical, information technologies) with the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of Bar-Ilan University Zeev Zalewski, an agreement was reached on the development of a double-diploma programme for undergraduates.

Masters and doctoral students of the university in 2021-2024 successfully completed internships at Tel Aviv University and Hebrew University in Jerusalem. A professor from the Israeli university has attended a conference organised by KazNU in the past.

‘We are interested in the development of partnership in the field of artificial intelligence and information technology,’ the rector emphasised. - It is necessary to develop interaction in the use of new technologies, to prepare a plan for the implementation of joint projects, to develop and implement a two-diploma educational programme’.

In his response, Director General of Bar-Ilan University Zohar Inon spoke about the university's activities. In particular, the educational institution has a Brain Institute where research using artificial intelligence is conducted. ‘There are a lot of opportunities for partnership in the field of information technology,’ Mr Z. Inon said. - I consider the development of this direction promising. Bar-Ilan University and KazNU have great technological opportunities for this purpose’.

At the end of the meeting there was a ceremony of signing a memorandum of co-operation and implementation of joint scientific and educational projects.
