The Language Legacy of Akhmet Baitursynuly
As part of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 4, "Quality Education," Kazakhstan celebrates the Day of Languages of the People of Kazakhstan on September 5, according to a government resolution issued three years ago titled “On the Approval of the List of Public Holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan.” Previously, Language Day was observed on September 22. The change to September 5 honors the birthday of Akhmet Baitursynuly, the revered educator and reformer. In commemoration of this notable day, an open educational session was organized for 3rd-year students of the "Ethnology and Anthropology" program by lecturer N. Ghalymzhan of the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology, and Museology.
During the educational session, the life and work of Akhmet Baitursynuly, a prominent figure of the Alash movement, scholar, Turkologist, and the founding father of Kazakh linguistics, were discussed, along with an exploration of his wise sayings.
