On September 7, at 12:00, a demo lesson on the topic: "Language is the soul of a nation" was held at the Faculty of Philology, in room 316. This event was organized within the framework of the celebration of Language Day in Kazakhstan and highlighted the profound significance of language in shaping culture, identity, and social cohesion. The lesson was thoughtfully organized by the 1st year students of the Russian group of “Foreign Languages: Two Foreign Languages” major together with the advisor of the group, Nurlangazykyzy Balnur.
The central aim of the open lesson was to emphasize the role of language in today’s world and its fundamental importance in society. During the event the students delivered compelling speeches in five different languages—Kazakh, Russian, English, French, and Turkish. Each speech underlined the richness and cultural heritage embedded within these languages, offering the audience a chance to reflect on the multifaceted nature of communication.
The students at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University conducted interviews and organized games to explore the role of language in society. The interviews, conducted by the students from various faculties, offered diverse insights into how languages bring cultures closer together and foster mutual understanding. Interactive language games were designed to test participants' language knowledge and engage the audience. Both students and faculty members actively participated in these activities, creating a lively and collaborative atmosphere. The presentation of words from different languages, with historical and cultural significance was culminative point of the lesson. Through these words, students showcased how language not only conveys meaning but also tells the stories and traditions of its speakers, providing a glimpse into their way of life.
The event concluded with an inspiring speech by Avakova Raushan Amirdinovna, the head of the department “Turkology and theory of languages”. She shared her deep knowledge and experience on the subject, encouraging the 1st-year students to continue their journey in language studies with passion and dedication.
This open lesson not only celebrated the diversity of languages but also fostered a deeper understanding of the intrinsic connection between language and the human soul.
