Commercialization Prospects: Discussion of Grant Opportunities
The staff of the university’s Commercialization Office held a productive meeting with the faculty of the Mechanics and Mathematics Department, who expressed interest in participating in the grant competition for funding the most promising projects on the commercialization of the results of scientific and (or) scientific-technical activities for 2025-2027. The meeting aimed to clarify the terms of participation, discuss project requirements, and explain the nuances of the competition documentation.
The faculty showed keen interest in the discussion and asked numerous questions about both the formal requirements of the competition and the practical aspects of commercializing scientific developments. Questions covered topics such as the types of eligible projects, evaluation criteria, mechanisms for submitting applications, and proper documentation. Representatives of the Commercialization Office provided detailed explanations, emphasizing the importance of correctly structuring applications, managing intellectual property, and aspects of patenting and licensing developments.
Special attention was given to how projects can align with the strategic priorities of the competition and be attractive to potential investors. The Commercialization Office specialists highlighted the significance of creating market-oriented innovative solutions and offered recommendations on optimizing scientific research for successful practical implementation.
The grant competition is an essential part of the effort to strengthen Kazakhstan’s innovation ecosystem and enhance the country’s scientific and technological potential. This initiative is directly linked to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9 — “Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure,” which focuses on building a sustainable industrial base, developing innovative solutions, and modernizing infrastructure. Commercializing scientific results is a critical step toward accelerating the adoption of new technologies and enhancing Kazakhstan’s competitiveness in the global economy.
In addition, this meeting is also related to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17 - "Partnerships to achieve sustainable development goals", which emphasizes the importance of cooperation between universities, research institutions, business and the state for the effective implementation of innovations. Participation in grant funding competitions contributes to the development of partnerships between the academic community and industry, which is an important condition for the creation and implementation of innovations at all levels.
Participation in this competition provides scientists with a unique opportunity to turn their research into reality by transforming it into practical solutions that are in demand in the market. The university actively supports its faculty and researchers, striving to create the necessary conditions for their scientific achievements to contribute to the country’s economic development, the creation of new jobs, and improving the quality of life.
