On September 12, 2024, at 15.00, in the Red Hall of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, a meeting of students, undergraduates, Ph.D doctoral students and teaching staff was held with the famous scientist, Professor N. Temirgaliyev (Astana, ENU) on the topic “Kazakhstanis in the leading scientific centers of the USA”, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Nurlan Temirgaliyev, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the International Academy of Sciences of Higher Education, Excellent Education Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a graduate of Al-Farabi KazNU (1969), completed his postgraduate studies at the V.A. Steklov Mathematical Institute, where he defended his candidate (1973) and doctoral (1991) dissertations.

Guest of the meeting since 1974, he worked as a senior lecturer, associate professor, and professor in the Department of Mathematical Analysis. Since 1992, he has been the head of the Department of Functional Analysis and Probability Theory at KazGU. From 1997 to 2009, he served as the head of the Department of Mathematical Analysis (currently, he is the director of the Institute of Theoretical Mathematics and Scientific Computing) at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.

Professor N. Temirgaliyev is also the "Person of the Year 2003" and the recipient of the grant "Best University Teacher 2010." By decision of the International Socrates Committee (Oxford, UK), he received a special award "The Name in Science" for his outstanding scientific contributions. The name of the scholar has been included in the World Register of Outstanding Scientists of the 21st Century, awarded with the badge "For Contribution to Science."

A team of Kazakhstani scholars, led by Professor N. Temirgaliyev, will visit the USA from December 1 to 14, 2024, with a program covering 24 topics in mathematics, computer science, and AI/ML. They will visit Stanford University (Silicon Valley), Texas A&M University (College Station), and Columbia University (New York) to establish international scientific collaboration.

Participants in the meeting with Professor N. Temirgaliev, who is actively engaged in writing new generation textbooks that meet modern educational standards and are in high demand in natural sciences, listened attentively and supported his ideas for improving teaching in secondary schools and universities. They wished him continued success in his creative work.

The event also aligns harmoniously with the context of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 4 and 17. Professor N. Temirgaliyev, sharing his experience, emphasized the need to implement innovative approaches in the educational process. This will allow students and educators to deepen their knowledge and develop skills necessary for successful careers in a globalized world.

The visit of the Kazakhstani team to the USA will be an important step in strengthening ties with leading global scientific centers, creating a platform for knowledge and practice exchange. Participants expressed their readiness to engage in these initiatives, understanding that collective efforts and collaboration can lead to significant achievements in science and education.
