Biofuel as a Factor in Environmental Preservation
On September 20, 2024, at 12:00 PM, in room 524, Professor Zayadan B.K. from the Department of Biotechnology, Associate Professor Akmukhanova N.R., PhD Senior Lecturer Sarsekeeva F.K., and PhD Senior Lecturer Bauenova M.O. conducted an educational event (discussion) with 4th-year students of the “06B05103 – Biotechnology” program on the topic: “Biofuel as a Factor in Environmental Preservation.”
The event was held in accordance with the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology's roadmap for SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production.
The event began with an opening speech from Professor Zayadan B.K., who discussed the environmental issues associated with the use of fossil fuels and emphasized the importance of developing and implementing alternative energy sources, such as biofuels.
During the event, students listened to several presentations on the following topics: 1. "The Benefits of Biofuel for Ecology and Sustainable Production"
2. "Biofuel Production Technologies and Their Environmental Efficiency
3. "The Use of Biomass for Biofuel Production: Prospects and Challenges"
After the presentations, an active discussion took place, in which students discussed various aspects of using biofuels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and decrease dependence on oil and gas. Special attention was given to issues related to the economic feasibility of biofuel production and its impact on food security.
During the discussion, students proposed ideas for developing biofuel technologies in Kazakhstan and ways to raise public awareness about the environmental benefits of biofuels. The prospects for introducing biotechnology into the energy sector to create a more sustainable future were also addressed.
