New life for waste paper!

3 october, 2024

Today, the issue of environmental protection is in the spotlight throughout the world. Limited natural resources and the accumulation of large amounts of waste require special attention to this issue. In this context, the recycling process, including paper recycling, plays an important role. Every year, millions of tons of paper products are used around the world, and most of them are thrown away.

Our goal is to show students that it is necessary to effectively use waste paper, which is a secondary raw material. By recycling 1 ton of waste paper you can save 400 m3 of wood, which is equivalent to saving 5 large trees! Reusing paper waste is not limited to saving forests, collecting and recycling paper waste is about preventing environmental pollution. Recycling paper is one of the measures to protect the environment. This saves wood resources, reduces energy consumption, saves water resources and reduces the accumulation of waste in landfills.

Organizing the collection of waste paper among students will undoubtedly contribute to the development of environmental consciousness and environmental protection. Activities like this help students become more responsible and teach the importance of recycling and saving natural resources. In this regard, teachers of the department of general and inorganic chemistry of the faculty - Balgysheva B.D., Ryskalieva R.G. organized an event to collect waste paper with the participation of department teachers and students, and the waste paper was sent to special organizations. In order to protect the environment, many subjects have been included in the educational programs of our faculty in order to increase the environmental knowledge of our students.

This event was held within the framework of the SDG project No. 12 “Responsible consumption and production”. We believe that the objectives of the event will be achieved by attracting students to participate in the event aimed at maintaining the cleanliness of our department and university, making paper waste collection a systematic activity and using paper waste efficiently!
