Presented a series of books on Turkology

The Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held a round table meeting on the theme ‘Til qazynasy - birlik negizi’, where a series of books on Turkology was presented.

 

In particular, the monographic work of the rector of KazNU, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Zhanseit Tuimebaev ‘Theoretical principles and criteria of historical and genetic differentiation of Turkic-Mongolian lexical parallels’, the collection of poet, scientist Bekir Chobanzade ‘Tiltutka’, as well as ‘Terminological dictionaries of Turkic languages’.

These books were published within the framework of co-operation between KazNU and Turkic Academy.

The event was attended by vice-president of Turkic Academy Askhat Kesikbayev, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Almaty Evren Müderrisoglu, Deputy Chairman of the Board - first vice-rector of KazNU Erkin Duisenov, director of the Institute of Linguistics named after A.Baitursynov Anar Fazylzhan, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Eleonora Suleimenov, Director of the Institute of Linguistics named after A.Baitursynov. A.Baitursynov Anar Fazylzhan, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Eleonora Suleimenova, foreign scientists, Turkologists, teachers and young people of the university.

Askhat Kesikbayev, Vice-President of the Turkic Academy, spoke at the roundtable meeting and noted the importance and relevance of the presented books.

‘The published books are a great opportunity to further build up scientific ties between the brotherly states. In 2024, the Turkic Academy plans to publish 64 books. On the initiative of the Academy, a number of works by poet, scientist Bekir Chobanzade were translated into Kazakh for the first time and will soon be presented to the readers under the title ‘Tiltutqa’. For this edition we used archival materials of five volumes prepared in 2007 in Baku.

Zhanseit Tuimebaev's book provides a detailed review of the lexicon of Turkic and Mongolian languages at the semantic and morphological level. The author has revealed a number of aspects of the historical lexicology of the Kazakh language that have not been studied before. This edition is intended for all readers interested in Turkology and Altaic studies. Over the past two years, the Turkic Academy has implemented the project ‘Terminological Dictionaries of Turkic Languages’. The initiative to prepare these dictionaries was aimed at standardising terminology in different fields, defining common terms and developing scientific languages of Turkic states. The series ‘Terminological Dictionaries of Turkic Languages’ covers a wide range of branches of economy, medicine, military, agriculture, environment, culture and art, politics, law, transport, etc.,’ said Askhat Kesikbayev.

In turn, Deputy Chairman of the Board - First Vice-Rector of KazNU Erkin Duisenov emphasised: ‘The editions presented today will contribute to further revival of science, culture and international cooperation. I hope that these works will be useful for the professional growth of scientists and students. The teaching staff of our university teaches young people based on the best methods and approaches in education. Today's books will become indispensable tools in the training of Turkologists and linguists,’ the Vice-Rector said.
