Active Youth Participates in Clean-Up
On October 5, 2024, first-year students of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, studying in the fields of "Computational Sciences and Statistics," "Actuarial Mathematics," and "Applied Mathematics," together with their advisors, held a professional Saturday, during which they conducted a large-scale cleanup of the designated territory. The event was attended by 202 people, clearly demonstrating the active civic stance of youth and their desire to improve the environment.
The cleanup began at 9 a.m. and lasted until noon. Students formed groups and were assigned tasks to clean various areas within the university. Each team worked enthusiastically, collecting trash, clearing leaves, and tidying up green spaces. Participants noted that such events are not only beneficial for the ecology but also foster team spirit.
The cleanup effort was an important step in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, SDG 11: "Sustainable Cities and Communities" emphasizes the need for clean and safe urban spaces. By participating in the cleanup, students contributed to improving their living environment, making the city more attractive for residents and guests.
It is also worth noting that events like this support the ideas of responsible consumption and resource management, reflected in SDG 12: "Responsible Consumption and Production." Student participation in the cleanup fosters a conscious attitude toward the use of natural resources and concern for ecology, which is especially relevant in today's context.
SDG 13: "Climate Action," aimed at combating climate change, was also an important aspect discussed during the event. Participants noted the necessity for actions to minimize negative impacts on the climate, and how their contribution to the cleanup raises awareness of environmental protection issues.
At the end of the cleanup, the faculty advisor remarked, "We are proud of our students, who not only study but also actively participate in the life of the university and the city. Such initiatives show that youth is ready to care for the future of our planet."
Thus, the active participation of students in the cleanup not only helped create a cleaner environment but also contributed to the achievement of sustainable development goals. We eagerly await new initiatives and hope for continued collaboration between students and faculty in the field of environmental protection!
