Within the framework of the SDG, an open lesson was held at the Department of Turkish Studies and History of the East
On October 14, 2024, senior lecturer of the Department of Turkish Studies and History of the East, Kulzhan Zhanatayeva, held an open lesson with 3rd-year students of the “6B02207-Oriental Studies” educational program on the subject “The State-Political System of the Studied Country of the East” as part of the SDG “Quality Education” on the topic was “The place of the Army in the Political Life of Turkey.” The open lesson was attended by the Deputy Head of the Department for Academic and Methodological Work, PhD A. Khalel, acting professor A. Kurmanali, and the Chair of the Department’s Methodological Council, senior lecturer A. Nazarova.
The open lesson, conducted in the form of a mixed lecture, explained the role of the military structure in Turkey’s political life, the Turkish armed forces, and their involvement in various conflicts. The lecturer informed the students about the goals and outcomes of four military coups in the country’s 20th-century history. A physical map of the country was used to show U.S. military bases in Turkey, and a gallery of paintings depicting the Turkish armed forces was presented.
During the lesson, 3rd-year student Akerke Asanova gave a presentation on the “Turkish Armed Forces,” focusing on Turkey’s modern military technologies. The same student also presented on the topic “Turkey’s Role in the Syrian Conflict.”
At the end of the lecture, the teacher received answers to control questions posed to the students to assess their understanding of the topic. The open lesson was held at a high level and successfully achieved its objectives.
