Theatre as a Tool for Quality Education: History Students Attend "The Unhappy Orchard" Play

Students and faculty from the Department of World History, Historiography and Source Studies, as well as the Department of History of Kazakhstan of the History Faculty, attended the dramatic performance "The Unhappy Orchard" at the Gabit Musrepov Kazakh State Academic Theater for Children and Youth.
The production, based on the work of American writer Vina Delmar, captivated the audience. The exploration of family values and the complexities of parent-child relationships resonated deeply with viewers. The characters' fates and intricate inner worlds, masterfully portrayed by the actors, left a lasting impact.
Within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal #4 "Quality Education," such cultural events contribute to:
- Broadening students' horizons: exposure to world drama.
- Developing critical thinking: analyzing the production and interpreting the author's intent.
- Shaping emotional intelligence: empathizing with characters and reflecting on moral and ethical issues.
Students shared their impressions, highlighting the relevance and thought-provoking themes of the play. They perceived "The Unhappy Orchard" not merely as a family drama, but also as a philosophical reflection on humanity, love, and duty.
The faculty also praised the high artistic level of the production, the ingenuity of the directorial decisions, and the actors' professional performance. "The Unhappy Orchard" proved to be a profound cultural experience for the students and faculty of the History department, enriching their inner world and providing food for thought.
