“Ulpan”

On October 24, 2024, the first-year students of the “Translation Studies (Western Languages)” major  of  the Philological Faculty at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University visited  Gabit Gabit Musrepov Youth Theater to immerse themselves in  “Ulpan” play. This literary  work, reflecting life in a Kazakh village at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and  tells the story of the inner strength and resilience of the main character, a woman named Ulpan. With a sharp mind and inner energy, Ulpan overcomes the obstacles posed by religious and feudal constraints, symbolizing the struggle for freedom and equality.

The plot reveals the image of a female leader, demonstrating selflessness, moral resilience, and inner strength. Ulpan’s story inspires the younger generation to recognize the importance of personal rights and freedom and teaches tolerance and respect for oneself and others.

The play “Ulpan” also contributes to achieving several Sustainable Development Goals:

  • SDG 4: Quality Education – The play broadens students’ cultural and historical knowledge, fostering comprehensive development.
