GENDER POLICIES AND THE RIGHTS OF WOMEN JOURNALISTS
One of the main principles in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals is to ensure gender equality in the world and to create opportunities for all women to fulfil their professional potential. It is the freedom and rights of women journalists, which are an indicator of effective work in this direction that was one of the main topics raised at today's online seminar.
The event ‘Gender Policy and the Rights of Women Journalists’ was attended by Madina Alimkhanova, Executive Director of the International Foundation for the Defence of Freedom of Speech ‘Әdil Sөz’, and Ainash Yesali, journalist of the newspaper ‘Egemen Kazakhstan’, who spoke about the current state of gender policy in the country and the coverage of the topic of gender in the Kazakhstani press and the observance of the rights of women journalists Ainash Yesali, who spoke about the current state of gender policy in the country, coverage of gender issues in the Kazakhstani press and observance of the rights of women journalists.
Chairperson of the public association ‘Women's Union of Al-Farabi KazNU’, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Sciences, Professor Bayan Zholdasbekova reported on measures taken to strengthen the role of women in the public, economic, social and cultural life of the university.
Thus, the seminar participants were convinced that gender equality is not only one of the basic human rights, but also a necessary basis for achieving peace, prosperity and sustainable development.
