Intercultural communication of foreign students to receive quality education at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

Foreign students from Japan, China, South Korea, the United Kingdom, the United States, the Philippines, Turkey and other countries receive language training at the Faculty of Pre-university Education of al-Farabi Kazakh National University.  Advanced foreign students study Russian in groups: 1 – curator-adviser E. Ignatova, 5 – curator-adviser D. Tolmacheva, 7 – curator-adviser A. Akhmedova.

The program of study at the Department of Language and General Education training for foreigners provides for the study of Kazakh and Russian languages. To continue their education at al-Farabi Kazakh National University, they must not only master the knowledge of languages, but also get acquainted with the history and culture of Kazakhstan, get information about the sights of the country, adapt to the realities of a previously unfamiliar country. Students are very interested in holding educational events dedicated to the holidays of Kazakhstan: the Day of Languages of the People of Kazakhstan, Republic Day, Independence Day of Kazakhstan, Nauryz, Victory Day.  At the open curatorial hours dedicated to significant dates, foreign citizens will learn a lot of new and interesting things about the country of study with great interest. The importance of such events cannot be overestimated, because Representatives of different nationalities from different countries are united in one study group, which is evidence of real internationalism. One of the most important tasks of the curators-advisors of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners is to create an atmosphere of friendship and mutual respect in each study group.

          Kazakhstan is a tolerant state where Kazakh has the status of the state language, and Russian is the language of interethnic communication. High-quality education is not only the acquisition of knowledge in the profession, but also an understanding of the intercultural paradigm of Kazakhstan, the peculiarities of the country, its historical past and modernity. Students visit excursions with interest, get acquainted with the sights. Intercultural communication lays the foundation for the development of economic and cultural ties with all countries. Foreign students studying at al-Farabi Kazakh National University get the opportunity to get a competitive education and in the future, apply for a decent job.
