FATIMABIBI DAULET REPRESENTED KAZAKHSTAN AT THE SECOND WORLD CONFERENCE OF SINOLOGIST
On October 27, 2024, the II World Conference of Sinologists was held in Nanping (China). More than 200 sinologists from 70 countries came to the Conference. At this main event for Sinologists of the world, the Republic of Kazakhstan was represented by the famous Kazakh sinologist, Professor of the Department of Chinese Studies at the Faculty of Oriental Studies Fatimabibi Daulet. At the Conference, Fatima Nogaikyzy made a presentation on the topic "The current state and prospects for the development of Kazakh Sinology" (http://https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/C9B-AKPHIH9rTAr5xZ7V9A). In her report, Professor Daulet told about the history of the emergence and formation of Kazakh Chinese studies of modern times. In particular, the professor noted that the sinology of sovereign Kazakhstan turns 35 this year. In her report, Professor Daulet spoke in detail about the studies that were published and influenced the development of Kazakh Chinese studies of modern times. Fatimabibi Nogaikyzy also spoke about the educational programs used by universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, within which bachelors, undergraduates and doctoral students study. Sinologists from more than 70 countries of the world who spoke at the symposium shared the current problems of training Sinologists in their countries. In particular, the famous Icelandic sinologist Ragner Peterson, a well-known diplomat, translator and specialist in classical Chinese philosophy, noted that a real sinologist is a rare "piece of goods". A person who only speaks the language perfectly, but has no other ideas about China, can hardly be called a sinologist. Also, according to Mr. Peterson, in order to be entitled to be called a sinologist, a specialist must at least know the language. According to the professor, it is through language that all information (national cultural, ethnographic, historical, socio-political, etc.) about China is comprehended. The world-famous sinologist Colin Macceras from Australia agreed with Professor Peterson's statements and noted that China is understood exclusively through hieroglyphs. According to him, the training of Sinologists should begin with hieroglyphs, with the language factor. The World Symposium of Sinologists was held for the 2nd time this year and is an excellent platform for communication, mutual exchange of experience of Sinologists from all over the world.
