CONFERENCE ON DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES

      The Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is hosting the 1st International Scientific and Practical Conference titled "Digital Reality: New Challenges in Cartography, GIS, and Remote Sensing," dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the university.

         The event brings together prominent scientists and experts in the field, professors, lecturers, and students of the university.  The conference is organized by the Center for Space Technologies and Remote Sensing of the Engineering and High Technology Cluster, the Department of Cartography and Geoinformatics of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences at Al-Farabi KazNU, and the CIS distributor of ESRI – Data+ International.  The Vice President and Provost of the State University of New York, Professor of the College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Samuel Mukasa, delivered a presentation titled "Cartography in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Challenges and Opportunities," highlighting the role of AI in cartography and its vast potential as a tool for big data processing. 

          Professor Evgeny Levin from the School of Applied and Computational Sciences at Meharry Medical College in the USA dedicated his talk to demystifying artificial intelligence, aiming to make information more accessible and understandable by eliminating unnecessary complexities and myths. 

         The plenary session also featured speeches from Richard Budden, Deputy General Manager of Esri for the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia; Valery Fomin, Business Development Director of Data+ International; Alpamys Aldash, Head of the Department of Geodesy and Cartography at the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Kuandyk Shulenbayev, Deputy Chairman of the Aerospace Committee of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, among others. 

           The conference continued with sectional sessions.
