WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE SDGs “QUALITY EDUCATION,” THE DEPARTMENT OF TURKISH STUDIES AND HISTORY OF THE EAST HELD A ROUND TABLE ON THE TOPIC “TURAR RYSKULOV – A HISTORICAL FIGURE”
On November 19, 2024, at 4:00 PM, a round table dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Turar Ryskulov was held, organized by second-year students of the Department of Turkish Studies and History of the East. The event was attended by the department’s faculty members and students. The round table began with a moment of silence in memory of the leader of the national liberation movement of the Turkestan peoples and an outstanding statesman. It continued with participant presentations. Second-year student Aldibayeva Diana presented a report on “The Biography of Turar Ryskulov” and highlighted key milestones in Ryskulov’s life, emphasizing his contribution to the struggle for the rights of the Kazakh people and the development of social institutions. Second-year student Khairolla Dana spoke on “The Career Path of Turar Ryskulov” and analyzed the major stages of his professional growth, emphasizing his role in shaping Kazakhstan’s economic and social policies. Second-year student Abyt Sabina presented on the topic “Sherkhan Murtaza’s Novel Red Arrow”shedding light on how the novel reflects complex historical circumstances and Ryskulov’s personality through literary interpretation. The speakers answered questions from the students and shared their insights. Additionally, second-year student Konyrova Gulnaz recited Zhuban Moldagaliyev’s poem “I Am a Kazakh,” conveying feelings of pride and unity of the Kazakh people expressed through poetry. Second-year students Abyt Sabina and Kantayeva Aym presented a video titled “5 Letters of Turar Ryskulov,” which visualized Ryskulov’s personal experiences and political views through his letters, revealing his character.
Furthermore, second-year students Aldibayeva Diana and Bolatova Ayazhan performed a short play titled “An Excerpt from the Dialogue Between Stalin and Turar Ryskulov,” illustrating Ryskulov’s courage in defending the interests of his people in the face of power. At the conclusion of the round table, guests and students delivered congratulatory speeches, and all participants joined in singing Zharaskan Tolebai’s song “Men Qazaqpyn” (I Am a Kazakh).
The department’s administration and faculty expressed their opinion that Turar Ryskulov played a significant role in the development of state policy and social justice, becoming a symbol of progress and national identity. His work was directed toward protecting the interests of the Kazakh people and strengthening their historical legacy. They also expressed gratitude to the second-year curator-advisor K.B. Zhanataeva, senior lecturer N.M. Shuynshina Meta, and all the students who contributed to organizing the event.
