«EcoNomads» Olympiad

Under the objectives of SDG 4: “Quality Education” and SDG 8: “Decent Work and Economic Growth,” on November 23, 2024, the Department of Economics of the Higher School of Economics and Business organized and held the competition “EcoNomads” within the framework of inter-university subject Olympiad on the course “Macroeconomics.”

Students of 2 and 3 courses of HSEiB KazNU named after Al-Farabi, Kaspi University, UIB University, and AGEU on specialties “Digital Economy,” “Finance,” “GLM,” “Management” and “Logistics” took part in the Olympiad “EcoNomads.” The competition was held in four stages. The participants presented video projects on macroeconomic problems, such as reducing inflation and unemployment, especially youth unemployment, stimulating investment, solving the problem of economic diversification, eliminating the incompatibility between monetary policy and fiscal policy, and sustainable economic growth. Based on the results of the competition, winners and nominees were identified and rewarded.

Teachers of the Department of Economics on Macroeconomics and a special guest – a specialist analyst from the Department of Economic Research of the Permanent Representation of the National Bank of Kazakhstan in Almaty, Ms. Ayakoz Hanet – took part as members of the competition jury. 

The competition was very interesting, and students had an opportunity to assess their knowledge of macroeconomics. In addition, the students showed their creative abilities – a small concert program was presented in front of the guests. The main advantages and importance of such competitions are the stimulation of interaction between senior students and junior students, the development of students' self-management skills, and the deep formation of learning outcomes in the subject.
