SHERIAZDAN YELEUKENOV: A NAME THAT HAS BEEN REMEMBERED FOR GENERATIONS

This year marks the 95th anniversary of the birth of Sheriazdan Yeleukenov, an outstanding figure of Kazakh culture and literature, doctor of philological sciences, professor, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan. His contribution to the development of national intelligence, literature and book studies will forever remain an important milestone in the history of the Kazakh people. In honor of Sheriazdan Yeleukenov's anniversary, the department of publishing, editing and design art of KazNu arranged an international scientific and practical conference at the Al-Farabi library. The event's theme was «Problems of national book studies: history and modernity».

Among the participants of the conference were Altay Kazmagambetov, vice-rector for academic affairs of KazNU, Kanat Auesbay, dean of the faculty of journalism, Dastan Yeleukenov, son of Sheriazdan Yeleukenov, doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, Aigul Ramazan, head of the department, doctor of philological sciences, professor Namazaly Omashev, director of the «Abay» research institute Zhangara Dadebayev, editor-in-chief of the newspaper «Kazak Adebieti» Bauyrzhan Zhakip and honored worker of Kazakhstan and writer Maral Yskakbay. Foreign experts, teachers and students also joined the conference.

Opening the event, Kanat Auesbay introduced the guests and passed the floor to the vice-rector of KazNU Altay Gabdrakhmanov. In his speech he emphasized the huge contribution of Sheriazdan Yeleukenov to the development of kazakh literature, spirituality and publishing. His works played a key role in establishing the book as the most important source of culture and national identity.

A book commemorating the 95th anniversary of Sheriazdan Yeleukenov was presented during the conference. The collection includes articles dedicated to his life and creative heritage, as well as materials prepared by the participants of the event.

The keynote speaker, Bauyrzhan Zhakip, noted the outstanding achievements and high personal qualities of Sheriazdan Yeleukenov, especially his contribution to literary criticism and to the creation of significant publications that have taken an important place in the cultural heritage of Kazakhstan. Conference participants emphasized that scientific and literary works of Yeleukenov are a solid foundation for the development of kazakh spirituality.

The name of Sheriazdan Yeleukenov, written in golden letters in history, inspires a new generation of researchers and serves as a reference point for national development. Therefore, the importance of such events, which popularize the name of the great man and familiarize future generations with his personality is invaluable.
