Enhancing Museum Professionals' Skills: A Lecture by G.A. Meirmanova
As part of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 17 "Partnerships for the Goals," staff members of the Abish Kekilbayev Mangystau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore are undergoing scientific internships and professional development at the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology, and Museology of the Faculty of History at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. During the internship, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor G.A. Meirmanova delivered a lecture on "The Methodology for Preparing an Inter-Museum Collaborative Online Course on Museum Innovations."
In her lecture, G.A. Meirmanova highlighted the methodology for preparing an inter-museum collaborative online course on museum innovations, which aims to enhance the educational and cultural capabilities of regional museums. She emphasized the importance of utilizing digital technologies in the development of museum educational programs. G.A. Meirmanova also shared her experiences in enhancing the qualifications of regional museums through organizing collaborative online courses and promoting museum work within the community. The lecture provided participants with an opportunity to discuss the necessity of introducing new approaches and the significance of collaborative activities in modernizing the museum education system.
During the internship, the staff also participated in practical sessions on conducting scientific research within the museum, systematizing historical exhibits, using modern methods of their preservation, and the methodology of creating museum exhibitions and presenting them to the public. In addition, museum staff had the opportunity to engage in numerous discussions on improving cooperation between museums, exchanging experiences, developing innovative projects, working with local communities, and preserving historical and cultural heritage.
This internship helped museum workers enhance their professional skills and master modern technologies and methods used in museum practice. They not only deepened their professional knowledge but also felt confident that they were ready to bring new ideas and approaches into their work on preserving and promoting historical and cultural heritage in their regions.
