On October 29, Argynbek Kunanbay, a linguist and faculty member of the Philological Department at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, gave a lecture to the learners of the Mugalim project in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk. In his insightful lecture, he discussed in detail the ways to develop personal growth and improve the qualifications of teachers, the correct and incorrect forms of praise in child psychology, as well as the goals and objectives in teaching. During the meeting, methods were proposed to increase children’s motivation and optimize the learning process, along with the introduction of the “learn to learn” concept. In the second part of the seminar, language-related issues were discussed. The phenomena of calque translation in media texts, shortened sentences, mixed language, and incorrect usages in Kazakh phraseology were examined. The style and pragmatic purpose of using tropes, expressions, and paraphrases that reveal the meaning of the text were also discussed.
