Doctoral Seminar on the Topic: «Study of the potential of bioactive substances of phototrophic microorganisms for cancer prevention».

The doctoral seminar of the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine, and Neuroscience took place on December 5, 2024. During the event, third-year doctoral student Toktybai A. presented a report on the topic: «Study of the potential of bioactive substances of phototrophic microorganisms for cancer prevention»

In her presentation, Toktybai A.К. highlighted the unique properties of phototrophic microorganisms, such as cyanobacteria and microalgae, and their bioactive compounds, including antioxidants, carotenoids, and polysaccharides. Special attention was given to the potential applications of these substances in cancer prevention and therapy. 

Toktybai A.К. shared the results of laboratory studies demonstrating the effects of extracts from phototrophic microorganisms on cancer cell lines. These findings open new possibilities for the development of innovative approaches in biomedicine. 

The presentation sparked active discussion among the seminar participants, during which valuable feedback and suggestions for future work were provided. Colleagues highly appreciated the relevance and significance of the research, emphasizing its contribution to advancing scientific knowledge in the fields of biotechnology and medicine.
