Accreditation of educational programs at the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of KazNU named after al-Farabi

From December 9 to 10, 2024, accreditation of educational programs was held at the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University for six directions: “6B05402 Mathematics,” “7M05402 Mathematics,” “8D05401 Mathematics,” “6B07110 Robotic Systems,” “7M07118 Robotic Systems,” and “8D06104 Mathematical and Computer Modeling.” The accreditation was conducted by an international accreditation commission from the organization ACQUIN.

During the accreditation process, the university leadership, faculty and department heads, teaching staff, students, and alumni actively participated in meetings with the accreditation commission members. They answered questions about how the educational process is organized for these programs, the quality management system, the process of creating and updating educational programs, as well as the implementation of modern teaching methods and knowledge assessment. This allowed the commission to get a comprehensive understanding of the quality of education and the educational process at the faculty.

An important part of the accreditation process were campus tours, during which the commission members visited several key facilities of the faculty. Among them were the data processing center, specialized laboratories of the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty, the Center for Engineering Competencies, and the scientific and educational center “Robotics and Mechatronics RoboMech,” where innovative projects are implemented and scientific research is conducted.

This accreditation of educational programs is of great significance for achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) — “Quality Education.” This external quality assessment process allows the university to improve its educational standards and ensure that graduates possess the necessary competencies for successful professional activity.

Accreditation plays a key role in the development of the education system, ensuring transparency, objectivity, and compliance with international requirements, which helps to increase trust in the educational process and ensure equal opportunities for all students. It is important to note that participation in international accreditation helps the university strengthen its competitiveness and align itself with the best global practices.
