20 january, 2025

A seminar was held at Al-Farabi KazNU, at the Faculty of Physics and Technology, as part of the social practical project "Green Silk Road".

The event was organized by the Department of Industrial Engineering at Tsinghua University and the Department of Thermophysics and Technical Physics at Al-Farabi KazNU.

The seminar was attended by the team from Tsinghua University, including professor Li Yangfu, Director of the Institute of Quality and Reliability, Associate professor of the Department of Industrial Engineering Yue Xiaowei, and 12 students from various faculties, as well as students from the Faculty of Physics and Technology.

The participants of the seminar were welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, Nurzada Beisen. She highlighted the achievements of KazNU and the Faculty of Physics and Technology, whose faculty and students publish articles in leading, high-ranking journals around the world, and work on scientific inventions and projects in collaboration with international colleagues. "We receive excellent feedback from employers about our graduates, who possess both fundamental knowledge and practical skills, and contribute to the development of science and the economy of the country", - the dean emphasized in her speech.

The event also featured a speech by professor Li Yangfu, who thanked the administration of KazNU for the warm welcome and organization of the "Green Silk Road" seminar – an important event aimed at uniting the efforts of universities and youth communities from both countries to address pressing sustainable development challenges. "Joint educational and scientific initiatives contribute to strengthening international cooperation, developing green technologies, and creating a new generation of professionals ready to respond to the challenges of global ecology", - the professor noted.

Then, the Tsinghua University team presented a presentation on the university's activities and projects in the field of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). Following this, there was a discussion on the principles of sustainable development, the prospects for cultural exchange, and a summary of the event.

It is important to note that Kazakhstan, as a key hub of the "Belt and Road" initiative, is at the stage of active green transformation. The "Green Economy" strategy, initiated by our government, aims to increase the share of renewable energy to 50% by 2050. International cooperation with China, a leader in green technology research and promotion, could play a crucial role in addressing these challenges.
