23 january, 2025

Michal Labenda, Head of the Diplomatic Mission of the Republic of Poland in Kazakhstan, held a meeting with students of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The meeting was organized as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Board, First Vice–Rector of KazNU Yerkin Duisenov, teachers and students of the university.

Yerkin Duisenov made a welcoming speech, focusing on the work of diplomat Michal Labenda. He is fluent in kazakh.

Michal Labenda is a graduate of KazNU. He studied for a year at the correspondence department of the Faculty of Journalism of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, then graduated from the Arabic department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies.

Also in his speech, the Vice-rector noted that such events play an important role in strengthening relations between the two countries.

At the meeting, organized in a free format, the Polish diplomat stressed the development of partnership relations between Kazakhstan and Poland in the field of culture and higher education. Michal Labenda also told the audience about the history, culture and traditions of Poland. This theme is consistent with the main goals of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, which has been working for three decades to preserve and develop the cultural traditions of various ethnic groups.

"Kazakh and Polish history are similar to each other. In the XV-XVII centuries, Poland was one of the largest states in Europe. At the end of the 18th century, the territory of Poland was divided, and the geographical area decreased. If you look into history, there were many large and small uprisings on Polish soil at that time. In the 19th century, Poland gained independence, and the spirit of the nation rose. Currently, the Polish state is developing dynamically",- said the head of the diplomatic mission.

Focusing on the current state of relations between Kazakhstan and Poland in the fields of politics, economics, education and culture, the diplomat stressed the importance of further expanding these ties.

During the meeting, the students asked questions that relate not only to Polish politics and economics, but also to more personal aspects such as student life in Poland, the education system, internship and exchange opportunities.
